Win some, lose some

Yesterday, early evening, I joined three pals for a little mountain-bike ride on the local S Mountain Trails; up road #175, then down North Backbone, Backbone, and finally Sand Dunes.  I was feeling fine until we started riding the single-track.  It was then that the headache I thought had left me returned, swiftly and painfully.

I couldn’t concentrate, I had trouble on the technical sections and, unable to concentrate in the right way, found myself drifting off the trail several times.  Since it was just a short ride, I didn’t have my 1st aid kit with me and thus, no ibuprofen.  Neither did my riding buddies.  I tried to drink a bunch of water, but that didn’t help.  Even the serene view of the valley below us as the sun was setting did nothing to ease the pain.  Although I was glad to be out on the bike, it just wasn’t such a pleasurable experience.
