The Last Word

Ten years, one week and one day ago, www.bowlingbybike.com began turning the pedals one at a time. After a shake-down ride and a couple of preliminary posts, a decade of documentation began as Irene and I rolled out of Spokane, WA. That was October 26, 2010.

Leaving Spokane, WA

I had quit my job, put all my possessions in storage, had a custom touring bike built and hit the road for adventures unknown. Ten years later those possessions have finally been unpacked in a new apartment. I have a business, a job and a place to call home.

With this adventure complete–though certainly not the journey–it is time to pull the brakes on www.bowlinbybike.com

Bicycles adventures, always worth the while

A decade ago I had no idea where the road would take me, nor where this blog would go.Through it I’ve reconnected with old friends, discovered new ones and stayed in touch with so many more. A school class once followed my posts while I’ve learned a lot along the way. I’ve worked through some personal struggles while helping folks sort out their own. To all of you, thanks for joining me on this bicycle blog adventure.

The value of cycling doesn’t show itself after just one ride, just like one turn of the pedals will never get you very far. Rather, it’s the cumulative affect of all those rides, of all those miles that count. The hard miles, the easy ones, the painful ones, the happy ones, the bloody ones, the tearful ones and the triumphant ones; added together we see their worth.

There is so much more that could be said, so much that could be writ. Rather, I’ll simply clip in, get settled on the saddle, steady my breathing and encourage you all to ride your bike..one turn of the pedals at a time.

See ya out there….
