Emerald Mountain, Steamboat Springs

Thursday morning Reilly, Karah, Bevin and I left Salida for a week-long mountain-bike road-trip.  We stopped briefly in Buena Vista before continuing on towards Steamboat Springs.  We met our friends Chris  and Jenn[also from Salida] as well as their friend Chris[who turned out to be an all around great guy, excellent mountain-biker and native Texan] just outside of town where we camped for the night.

Friday morning, we all drove to Steamboat Springs and started the day by touring the Moots factory[see post].  From there, we skipped across town to the Emerald Mountain Trails.  Getting ready in the parking lot at the foot of the mountain and next to some stables, we were soon on the bikes and exploring these excellent trails.  A great mix of well-maintained single-track, easily ridable dirt roads and some big down-hill double-track, all well marked and easy to follow.  Outdoors, in the woods, with friends old and new; a sure-fire way to enjoy a sunny afternoon in the Rocky Mountains.
