Driving to Colorado, Day 2

Saturday morning I woke, bathed, ate and was on the road by about 9am.  I was in no hurry, as the drive from Raton, NM to Salida, CO would take only three hours and my good friend Reilly was working all day.  Perfect opportunity to set the cruise control to 2mph below the speed limit and just enjoy the mountain scenery.

Arriving in Salida at noon, I stopped by Absolute Bikes to say hi to Reilly and the rest of the guys.  Spending the afternoon with Reilly’s super-fantastic girlfriend, Kimberly, we then met him and two others at the bike shop for an after work night ride.  Though just over two hours long, it was such an amazing treat, one I certainly had not anticipated.  We rode up the trails on S Mountain as the sun set, descending back home with lights on in the dark.  Oh Colorado, you really are such a special place.   And this was only my first day in town!

Yay the Rockies!
