Dirt Roads in Wellington County

A few pictures from Monday’s 120km road/gravel ride around Wellington County, starting in the village of Erin.

There were some really tough climbs, including one in the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. The most severely eroded “road” from last week’s ride featured again this week.  However, now there was a police barricade closing it. Although, the sign never actually said access was prohibited. That little road block ain’t going to stop this cyclist.

It was a wonderful day of riding, though very warm and humid. With no commercial resources along the route, nor a water filter in my jersey pocket, I stopped twice to ask a home-owner for water. Both were happy to oblige, particularly Leslie, who was a bit of a cyclist and who welcomed me to stop for water whenever need be. And next time, I’ll be sure to take-up Tricia on her offer of a swim in her pool back in Erin.

The route can be found here.
