Pledging for Paul’s

For the past sixteen years–seventeen this year–the good folks at the Bloomfield Bicycle Co. have teamed up with the Canadian Mental Health Association to host Paul’s Dirty Enduro; a mountain-bike race like no other.

Named for a friend of the organizer’s who sadly killed himself nearly twenty years ago, this is an event that aims to bring awareness to the tragedy of suicide while offering some of the best mountain-biking in the Province of Ontario.  The Ganaraska Forest is home to hundreds of miles of demanding trails and on September 15th, 2012, will again play host to Paul’s Dirty Enduro.

A low-key but high-excitement event, Paul’s has a 15km, 30km, 60km and for the very hearty[aka foolish] there is also a 100km race.  Last year I missed the podium in the 60km race by just 90 seconds.  The year before, I finished the 100kms in about 8.5hrs; last place.  It is my goal this year to finish better than last place and hopefully, in a time of 7.5hrs.

Paul’s is also a fundraiser for the Peterborough, ON chapter of CAMH and its suicide prevention programs.  I am looking to you all for your support, both moral and financial.  I am hoping to raise $1000.00 between now and September 15th and you can help make that happen.  Pledges can be made on-line at https://www.onlineregistrations.ca/paulsdirtyPledge/index.php?lname=Bowling&fname=Alex

I thank you in advance for helping me reach my goal, both on the pledge-form and on the trails!
