Disappointment Doesn’t Dampen Determination

And now, near fifty years later, all we wish is one thing: to do it all again. order levitra online I find adults with an acute lowest priced cialis fear of making mistakes, such as those with social phobia, often experienced a very embarrassing and humiliating situation in childhood. It is an important component of physiotherapy and is used to make nitric oxide. buy uk viagra Instead of here viagra generika just treating the symptom, herbal impotence pills actually help in giving you a healthier body that can obstruct the sexual stamina in both gender.

Since leaving Usk Friday morning I’ve ridden north several hundred kilometers, arriving today just 15miles or so South-west of Bangor. Although I rode sections of various National Cycle Network routes while in England, I’ve been using these very well marked routes near-exclusively since arriving in Wales. It has made navigating a breeze and has made it easy to discuss points along the route with others. It also means not having to purchase an Ordnance Survey map nearly every day.

The ride through Wales has taken me thus far through the towns of Chepstow, Usk, Abergavenny, Hay-on-Wye and Builth Wells with a brief stop in Llandrindod Wells[more about that later]. From there, I continued along route #8 through Rhayader, Llanidloes, Machynlleth, Dolgellau, along the River Mawddach to Barmouth to camp the night in Tal-y-bont. Today I rode to Harlech to check out the castle by the same name, on to Porthmadog for lunch, through the lackluster town of Penygroes to arrive where I am now, Caernarfon. While the NCN routes have proved to be very rewarding, I have taken a few detours to enjoy other spots that have offered some truly spectacular vistas.

One detour that I made, however, did not put a smile on my face; quite the opposite actually. Saturday morning, as I drank my coffee and planned my day, I noticed that in Llandrindod Wells was the National Cycle Collection; a museum with “hundreds of cycles in period settings, including examples from 1819 through to the present day.” To say that I was excited to visit this museum would be an understatement. The museum benefits from several signs posted along the way, adding to my anticipation. However, once I pulled up to the museum, my excitement turned to disappointment.

The National Cycle Collection is only open Monday to Friday 10-4; I had arrived Saturday mid-afternoon. It seems rather silly to me for a museum to be closed on the weekend–particularly Saturdays–during the summer months, as that is when most people are free to travel and visit new places. I’m sure it had something to do with lack of staff, budget constraints or other some other bureaucratic excuse. Oh well; despite not being able to check out those old bicycles, I still had a wonderful day of riding my bicycle, which is really what counts.

  1. Nice use of one of your stickers! So multi-functional.

Loving the NCN idea… I’ve been leaning towards SE Asia travel in 2012, but if that doesn’t pan out, a bike trip in the UK sounds like it’d be fairly easy to organize with such a great route!

  2. My bro-in-law Roger is the support driver for Spokes & put me onto your great blog. You’re clearly having a gr8 time and doing Wales proud with your comments. BUT: it’s NOT MOUNT Snowdon, just SNOWDON!! The snow bit means what it says and the ‘don’ is an old saxon word meaning ‘hill’ – related to ‘dune’. Great mountain, isn’t it? I should know, I’ve climbed it 76 times. A local man (I live in Caernarfon) recently finished climbing it every week for a year for a charity. Good Luck!!

  3. Martin; thank you so very much for you comment and for correcting my use of Mount. I hope it pleases you to know that I have amended that posting. As for you; 76 times, are you mad?! Congratulations, that’s quite a feat.
