Back to Paris[and Ancaster] for More Fun in the Mud

It was this time last year that I had just returned from my tour of the US Pacific coast; an epic 5000 km tour that finished in Texas. Upon my return, I entered the Paris-to-Ancaster race, here in Ontario. Regrettably, it did not go as well as I’d hoped. Despite having a wonderful time reuniting with old friends and hanging out with my buddy Bevin, I had a mechanical problem at about the 5km mark that I could not repair on the trail and my race was over.

What are we going to do about it? price of cialis How are they going to deal with this embarrassment and confidence shattering problem? Thankfully, with the advent of internet. So try generic sildenafil from india, Caverta, Penegra, and many drugs to beat that hurdle at once. Well, it’s that time of year again and I have high hopes for tomorrow’s 19th running on the famed Paris-to-Ancaster. The race is 60kms of gravel & dirt-roads, rail-trails, mountain-bike single-track and a few kms on the road. Infamous for its sloppy mud shoots and tough, wet climbs, it is a race like no other. Not really a road race, but not technical enough to be considered a mountain-bike race, it’s more of a cyclo-cross race but without the man-made barriers.
With the very mild winter we’ve had here in Ontario and the lack of rain the past few weeks, conditions–according to my conversation with the organiser John Thorpe, are the driest they’ve ever been. Sounds encouraging. However, the forecast for today and tonight is rain; tomorrow, a high of 21deg.cel., more rain and very windy. That means just one thing; MUD! So it seems that the 2012 edition of the Paris-to-Ancaster race will not disappoint; it is my intention to do just the same. I’m hoping to not only finish the race this year, but do so in 2.5hrs.
Check back Sunday evening and I’ll post my report of the race.

  1. Good luck! I’ll be there too… last year was the muddiest I’ve seen in my 6 years of doing the race, so even with the rain it *should* be a bit better this year.
